Born on Dec. 23, 1982, and raised in the mountain area of Caliente, where they attended grammar school and middle school at Piute Mountain School, the Karshner triplets moved off the mountain the summer before they went into high school and found a home in Lake Isabella. They attended four years at Kern Valley High School and graduated in June 2001.
The triplets are very athletic guys. They all have outgoing personalities and they are incredibly charming.
They love being active. They are extremely good gymnasts, excellent swimmers, and they love playing baseball as well as riding quads and horses.
Presently they are living in Bakersfield and are employed at the Holiday Inn Select on Truxtun Avenue, where they stay busy (between filming commercials) setting up for conferences and working as servers.
The Holiday Inn is 100 percent supportive of them making commercials; whenever they need time off to go to Los Angeles or to New York, they are given that time off. So far they have completed four commercials for Cingular, a cell phone company.
The story line of their last commercial that they just finished filming (and which will air this fall) will be about their characters going to college; one of them is heading for a university like Yale or Harvard, and the other two are heading for junior colleges.
With the cell phone business on the rise and Cingular being the second biggest mobile telecom operator in the United States, these triplets will have much exposure that will bring many more opportunities for them in the entertainment business.
After their first commercial for Cingular, the company requested the Karshner brothers to return to make more commercials because they have something to offer besides being triplets- their looks. You could say that Cingular knew they had “the right number” when they called upon these good-looking triplets for their commercials. They have the look that will sell products. They have that down-to-earth look, as well as a clean, wholesome, and youthful appearance. They are picture-perfect for any photographer.
A photo for an upcoming promotion shows the three of them standing in a field along a hillside, each wearing a thin white t-shirt and jeans. Their arms are crossed, showing off their muscles and their “six pack” stomachs. Their hair is slicked back, and with a serious look on their face, they look extremely healthy and with a magnitude of sexiness. This photo will make absolutely great poster material!
The Karshner brothers enjoy making commercials. Being triplets, all their lives they have been used to being in front of a camera and having a lot of attention. So what they are doing now for Cingular comes natural to them.
When asked if making a commercial is long hours and hard work for them, Nick said, “It’s fun!” Craig said, “It [only] takes about three hours per day that we work.” Ryan chimed in with, “It’s harder work fighting the females off than filming [the] commercial.”
These guys have their sights set on the movie business. They want to do action pictures or sitcoms. But they remain level-headed and truly nice guys.
The triplets were raised by their father, Steve Karshner, who did an outstanding job all on his own. Steve is self-employed as a farrier- a horse shoer. He went to Sierra Horse School in Bishop, where he received his certification and license in 1995.
Karshner takes pride in the way he raised his boys. He said they are boys who get along comfortably with adults as well as with kids. So far, he says, what he has taught them, the boys are living up to. When Steve was asked if there is much difference in their personalities, he said, “All three are outgoing and I am so proud of them for who they are. They are good guys.” In addition, he said he was proud of the fact that his boys respect adults- in fact, people in general.
Steve said Craig is great at doing back flips. He can stand still and flip, and he is enormously good at impersonations. Ryan is the one who has the same interest as his father; he is the horseman, and enjoys getting on a wild one and working the horse until it becomes tame. And Nick, he is known as the gentle soul, the nicest of the nice. When he was born he was the smallest of the three. When Steve saw his son with a “mini cap” on his head, he nicknamed him “Peanut”- a name which has stuck all these years.
When asked what it was like to raise the boys all alone, Steve said it was hard, but he said if he had to do it all over again, he would not change a thing.
He said, “My boys have been a source of joy and pride from the moment they were born.”
When the triplets were asked how they feel about traveling and going to interviews in Los Angeles, all three agreed it is fun. They have interviewed in several studios in Los Angeles and New York, and in the works are many upcoming projects. Between Paramount, Fox and Sony Pictures, they stand a chance of staying busy in the business.
Modeling work came first for the triplets. They first started getting into modeling during their senior year at Kern Valley High School. Their first professional modeling experience took place when they attended the 2001 International Modeling Talent Association competition, and staying seven days at the Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles. They have their dad to thank for that experience and they appreciate the support they receive from him.
Their first time out of California was when they traveled to Savannah, Ga., where they were booked to work for Abercrombie and Fitch, the large clothing store company. They worked with photographer Brice Webber in Savannah and did a photo shoot for a European magazine called “Red” with Bridget Hall, a Victoria’s Secret model. They were called to the Abercrombie and Fitch shoot; it was not an open call.
Because of their commercial experience they were invited to be presenters at the 2003 International Modeling Talent Association in New York. This event was held in July at the Hilton in New York City, They spent three days in New York. During their stay they visited Times Square, Central Park, the Statue of Liberty and the area known as “ground zero”- the former site of the World Trade Center. Their business manager, Volony White, supervised the boys and took them to great places to eat. The boys say that during their short time in New York, they did a lot. And they all agreed it was very exciting to be in New York.
Their father had this to say about White- “She knows how to take kids from the beginning and get them started.” And the boys gave thumbs up to that remark.
So what does the near future hold for these three brothers? Well, right now they are waiting for the fourth Cingular commercial to air, sometime this month or next. They also have a web site in the making, and say it should be active soon. The web site will be called trip6bros.com and it will provide information about the boys, as well as sell items such as t-shirts, posters, and calendars.
